A Right That Can’t Wait: The Urgent Call to Ingrain the Right to Food in UK Law

Humans MCR saved my Christmas. 2020 was a terrible year – my mum passed away and I found it hard to stay above water – what with the costs of the funeral and everything else. Not only was I facing my first Christmas without my mum, I was also looking at the very real prospect of my daughter waking up to nothing under the tree and no Christmas dinner.

When I heard about the Nobody Hungry at Christmas campaign, I got a referral as soon as I could – I knew it would fill up fast! The hamper they delivered the day before Christmas Eve was amazing! It included a lovely Barbie doll and a book for me to give my daughter ‘from Santa’ and a Christmas feast! The best part was that the food was delivered as raw ingredients rather than ready meals – meaning that I could cook and provide a proper Christmas dinner myself for my family.

I can’t thank them enough for keeping the magic alive for my little girl.

We believe that everyone deserves a magical Christmas and it is this belief that is at the heart of this project.
