You won’t regret baking this beautifully soft loaf - it’s perfect for sandwiches or dunking into soup. With no preservatives or additives, it’s a far healthier choice than your average store-bought sliced bread.

Ingredients

  • 500g strong flour (or 250g x wholemeal/strong)
  • 8g salt
  • 10g yeast
  • 300ml cold water
  • Seeds/Fruit/Herbs/Spices to taste if required

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix dry ingredients and add any herbs/seeds/spices etc.

  • Step 2

    Add cold water (keep a little back just in case).

  • Step 3

    Mix together until fully combined.

  • Step 4

    Cover and prove for 1 hour.

  • Step 5

    Knock back the dough, shape, cover and prove again for 1 hour.

  • Step 6

    Bake at 215 degrees for around 35 minutes or until the core temperature reaches 92 degrees.
